When most people decide to cast a spell or to perform any kind of practical magick, it's usually because they want something. It's desire that gets the ball rolling. Going a bit deeper, it's usually a desire for something necessary that most people have when they turn to magick. They may want sex, love, money, career advancement, friends, or a break from a painful past and a hope for rebirth. Magick provides all of these things and much more for anyone who wants them, at no cost, without limit, but you have to know what you're doing. The only way to really learn magick is by doing it. And that's where it can get tricky because magick is a force of nature -- perhaps its most powerful force. So when you ask magick to move something, it does it. But it sometimes moves in unsettling ways. Here's what I mean. If you cast a spell to get a sex partner, you will either get one right away that matches where you are now in your life, and is what you're ready for. Or, as is more likely the case, you'll use magick to get an "ideal" sex partner and this is someone that you're not currently able to attract or you'd already have them. In order to get them you'll need, at minimum, a way to become more attractive, and a way to meet more people, if you don't already have someone specific in mind. Magick will show you what to do, but you have to do it. So if you cast a spell to attract a sexy lover and later that week someone invites you to join their gym, or offers to go with you to the gym to get you back into working out, you have to do it. If want money, and you cast a spell and sit around and wait for money to come to you, it will, but only what's possible. You might get money that was owed to you that you forgot about, or find some you lost somewhere. If you want a solid stream of new money coming in, you'll have to make a place for it to do so. How is up to you. But magick will make whatever you do work much better. In fact, I'm going to let you in on a powerful secret that many accomplished magicians overlook. Magic is an act of balancing. The reason you have a desire for things is because you need to restore balance to yourself and your life. The weird part is: you may start off with a lust for money and wind up finding out you need to move to the country. You might use a spell to get a promotion, only to find you actually need to switch jobs. Yes, I'm saying we frequently don't understand our own desires. Magick helps to do so... Do you remember wishing on a star? Chances are, at some point in your life, you tried it. Maybe it even worked.
Even if you've never wished on a star, there's a lot to learn from this persistent magickal archetype. In fact, the simple act of wishing on a star can teach us a lot about magick. Here's just a few points of interest:
I challenge you to go somewhere on a dark night, when you can see the stars, and find a bright one that attracts your mind and heart. Then make a wish, just like when you were a kid, and mean it. You might be surprised at how this simple act of magick can change your mood; maybe your world. I teach magick, give readings, and offer mentorships.
