Next, select the flower you intend to use in the ritual. There are no exact rules about the type of flower to use, but you should follow these pointers:
1) Pluck the flower rather than buy it.
2) Choose a flower that will make enough ashes for the ritual but not be too big for your consecrated plate.
3) Let no-one see you take the flower.
Once you've found your flower and plucked it, put it away immediately somewhere where it will never be touched by any kind of light again, other than candlelight and moonlight at the ritual's climax.
If this rule is violated, the whole ritual will just collapse. Once you've plucked the flower, it can't be touched by light again until you prepare to burn it to ashes.
Two other aspects to keep in mind.
You must pluck the flower during a new moon. You must burn it during the full moon.
Use the button below to click to a moon-phase guide. If you're a member of the OTC, I'll also provide you with exact guidance about the planetary hours.
During the period between the plucking and burning, you should have experiences with the ghost of your flower. These experiences, whether in dream state or waking state, should reveal your flower's name. When you have the flower's name keep it in your memory but don't write it down.
If you're having trouble with any of this, or if nothing seems to be happening, you'll need to perform a contact ritual with the Archangels again.
Or if you join the OTC, you'll get guidance on two important concepts: the material basis and clairaudience.
If anything should happen that frightens or unsettles you in any way simply call on Jophiel, Michael, or any of the other Archangels at any time for guidance. Sing the angel's name and you'll see results immediately no matter what.
Once you've plucked and stowed your flower, perform an LBRP and give thanks to magick, the Archangels, and God. Or if you prefer, thank the powers of the universe and your imagination for providing you with the tools and knowledge to perform the ritual.
The final step is to burn the flower and expose the ashes under the full moon.
